Sciuridae is the family of squirrels, encompassing over 280 species including tree squirrels, ground squirrels, chipmunks, marmots, flying squirrels, and prairie dogs. These agile rodents are found on every continent except Antarctica and Australia, distinguished by their bushy tails, sharp claws for climbing, and cheek pouches for storing food.
