Virginia Opossum

Didelphis virginiana

The Didelphidae family, a family of marsupials known as opossums, is represented in the United States by a single species, the Virginia opossum. This species is the only marsupial native to North America north of Mexico and ranges from southern Canada to northern Costa Rica.
